The Word of God is a priority at STBC because Jesus said that we’re to make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching people to obey all that He commanded (Matt 28:19-20). And it is the Word of God that contains the commands of Jesus. Thus, it is our goal to teach the Scriptures.
Not only that, but the Word of God is a priority at STBC because God has revealed to us in His Word that He acts by His Spirit through His Word (Ps 119:9; 2 Tim 3:16). Therefore, the ministry of the Word is of particular emphasis at STBC. This ministry happens as we evangelize unbelievers, train and equip the saints, counsel one another, and read and study the Word together (Eph 4:11-13).
Of particular emphasis at STBC is the preaching of the Word of God. The preaching of the Word is the public presentation of the truth (Acts 2:14-39). Furthermore, it is our conviction that preaching is to be done in an expository manner, in which the meaning of the text is the central point of the message.
As we like to say, “God’s truth, verse by verse.”
